Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham: Following the Songs North and South

Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham 2026

There’s something beautifully uncomplicated about two great musicians, a collection of honest songs

and a long list of country towns on the map. This spring, Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham are heading back out on the road.

The Go North Go South Tour will take them through 18 shows across New South Wales and Victoria, winding its way from Bowral to the Northern Rivers, through coastal towns and country halls, south into Victoria and eventually back to Tamworth in January.

At the heart of the tour is Everything Around You, the pair's third studio album together and a record that spent multiple weeks at #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Album Chart.

It's a collection shaped by the things its title suggests — the people and places around us, the good days and difficult ones, and the need to find a little hope when life isn't necessarily handing it out freely.

There is optimism in these songs, but it doesn't feel forced. Instead, Felicity and Josh write from the understanding that life can be beautiful and difficult at exactly the same time.

That idea runs through songs like “Joy Roller,” “Stone In Your Heart” and “New Frontier”, giving Everything Around You a warmth that feels particularly suited to the way these two make music together.

Two roads coming together. Both arrived at this partnership with plenty of road already behind them.

Josh Cunningham has spent decades travelling the world as a member of The Waifs, helping shape one of Australia's most enduring folk-roots bands. Felicity Urquhart has built an equally impressive life in Australian country music as a singer, songwriter, broadcaster and multiple Golden Guitar winner.

Together, though, they've created something that doesn't simply sound like two established careers pushed into the same room.

Their music sits comfortably somewhere between country, folk, blues and roots, carried by acoustic instruments, close harmonies and the easy musical understanding that develops when two people have spent a lot of time playing together.

There's restraint in it too. Neither feels the need to fill every available space. A guitar can carry a song for a while. A harmony arrives when it needs to. A lyric gets enough room to land.

That same quality carries into their live shows, where world-class musicianship sits alongside stories, humour and the sort of easy conversation that can make a theatre or country hall feel considerably smaller than it actually is.

It's less about putting on a show for an audience and more about inviting everyone into the songs. Taking the long way

The Go North Go South Tour feels like an appropriate way to take *Everything Around You* on the road because the itinerary itself has a little character.

Rather than bouncing between capital cities, Felicity and Josh will travel through Bowral, Wollongong and the Northern Rivers before moving through Tenterfield, Dungog, Newcastle and a run of towns along the NSW coast.

From there, the road heads south into Victoria for shows in Geelong, Portland, Main Ridge and Stratford before eventually turning north again.

Along the way, the new album will sit beside songs from their previous award-winning records, including “Size Up,” with the pair also dipping into the music they've made elsewhere — from Josh's years with The Waifs to Felicity's extensive solo catalogue.

It's a lot of musical history to draw from, but the appeal of these shows is likely to be in how naturally it all fits together.

Three Golden Guitars and an ARIA nomination tell part of the story of what Felicity and Josh have built as a duo, but music like this has always made the most sense in a room with people in it.

A couple of guitars. Two voices. Stories collected along the way. Then pack everything back into the car and head for the next town.

By January, after thousands of kilometres and 17 shows, the road eventually leads to Tamworth, where they'll bring the tour into the Capital Theatre during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

North, south and plenty of places in between. Sometimes that's exactly how good songs are supposed to travel.
