Melbourne country-rock outfit Hana & Jessie-Lee's Bad Habits have released ‘Somebody's Fool’, a slow-burning new single about misplaced trust and second chances. The track is the second preview of their forthcoming third album and also features on a special split vinyl release with Mick Thomas' Roving Commission.

Sometimes the hardest part of being deceived isn't discovering someone has let you down, but recognising how many times you've allowed it to happen. It's a familiar emotional struggle at the heart of ‘Somebody's Fool’, released on 2 November 2026 by Melbourne-based outfit Hana & Jessie-Lee's Bad Habits.

The song follows ‘Pity Party’, which the band was promoting earlier this year, as they work towards their third studio album. Recorded in February 2026 at The Rack Shack, located above Collingwood's Gem Bar, with Rob Muinos, ‘Somebody's Fool’ begins as a delicate, slow-moving ballad before gradually gathering intensity.

As disappointment turns to frustration, the arrangement grows grittier, reflecting the emotional shift from vulnerability to anger. Already a favourite at the band's live shows, the song captures the raw storytelling and musical energy that have become central to their sound.

The release also celebrates a musical friendship forged during the band's 23-date national tour with Mick Thomas' Roving Commission in November and December 2025.

That shared time on the road has resulted in a split seven-inch vinyl release, pairing the new single with Hana & Jessie-Lee's Bad Habits' re-recording of ‘(Still) Don't Need Much’, originally by Weddings, Parties, Anything.

Fronted by Hana Brenecki's gritty, soulful vocals and Jessie-Lee Zubkevych's commanding guitar work, the band has spent more than a decade carving out its own place in Australian country music. Originally emerging from Adelaide's punk scene, the pair brought their rock 'n' roll influences into a sound that draws equally from country, soul and roots music.

Their debut album, Southlands, arrived in 2017 and helped establish them on the national touring circuit, leading to appearances at WOMADelaide and Out on the Weekend, along with support performances for Jason Isbell, Cold Chisel and Kasey Chambers.

Following their move to Melbourne, the duo released their second album, Say What You Mean, in 2024. Recorded with ARIA-nominated producer Alexander O'Gorman, it earned the Music Victoria Award for Best Country Work and Double J's Tower of Song of the Year.

Over the following two years, the band toured extensively, appearing at Port Fairy Folk Festival, Riverboats, Queenscliff, Gympie Muster and Tamworth Country Music Festival. More recently, they took their music to France, performing three shows before thousands of festival goers at Brittany's Binic Folk and Blues Festival. The European visit also coincided with a vinyl reissue of Say What You Mean through French label Beast Records.

With ‘Somebody's Fool’ now available, the band continues to introduce material from its next album, although a release date for the full record has yet to be announced.

The group will reunite with Mick Thomas' Roving Commission, alongside Norwood, for a Melbourne show at the Corner Hotel on 19 December.

Upcoming shows

Tuesday 3 November 2026 — The Retreat Hotel, Brunswick, VIC
Saturday 19 December 2026 — Corner Hotel, Richmond, VIC, with Mick Thomas' Roving Commission and Norwood

Further appearances, including Nundle Rocks and Tamworth Country Music Festival, are expected to be announced.

'Somebody's Fool’ was released on 2 November 2026 and is available on Bandcamp and streaming platforms. The accompanying split seven-inch vinyl is available to order. The band's third studio album is forthcoming, with no release date confirmed.
