Sheryl Crow finds hope in uncertain times with new album Pick You Up
Nine-time Grammy Award winner Sheryl Crow returns with her 12th studio album, Pick You Up, a seven-track collection that revisits her signature roots-rock sound while reflecting on friendship, resilience and life in the modern world.
More than three decades into her career, Sheryl Crow is still finding new ways to make sense of the world through music.
Her latest album, Pick You Up, sees the nine-time Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee returning to the warm, guitar-driven sound that first made her a household name in the 1990s.
Released on 9 October, the seven-track collection reunites Crow with longtime collaborator Jeff Trott, with the pair writing and producing the record together.
Drawing on rock, Americana and singer-songwriter influences, the album balances Crow's familiar melodic instincts with observations drawn from everyday life.
‘I find I go to songwriting these days to make sense of what is going on inside and all around me,’ she explains.
‘These songs were all born of the experience of living in this moment. There is so much chaos and information coming at us that it can feel overwhelming and paralyzing. My hope is that when you hear these songs, you feel that this is only of a moment and that life is a beautiful gift worth sharing.’
The album's title track, ‘Pick You Up’, captures that outlook through a song about friendship, loyalty and the reassurance of having someone in your corner when life becomes difficult.
Crow has also released an accompanying music video for the track.
Earlier singles ‘Freedom Bus’, featuring singer-songwriter Jesse Welles, and ‘Freight Train’ introduced listeners to the record's blend of personal storytelling and roots-driven arrangements.
‘Freedom Bus’ has reached No. 9 on the Americana chart, while Pick You Up climbed to No. 13 ahead of its official release.
For an artist whose career has moved comfortably between country, blues, rock and pop, the album feels like a natural return to the musical foundations that helped establish her reputation.
Crow's breakthrough hit ‘All I Wanna Do’ made her one of the defining voices of the 1990s, earning Grammy Awards including Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Since then, she's sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, placed seven albums in the Top 10 and achieved five multi-platinum certifications.
Her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023 recognised a career that has influenced generations of musicians, with artists including Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Phoebe Bridgers, Haim and Lorde acknowledging her impact.
Yet Crow has never been content to simply revisit her greatest hits.
Her 2024 album, Evolution, explored the changing relationship between music, technology and creativity, demonstrating her continued interest in contemporary issues.
With Pick You Up, she shifts the focus towards the people and experiences that help give everyday life meaning, delivering those ideas through the relaxed, organic arrangements that have long been part of her musical identity.
There's a familiarity to the sound, but also the perspective of an artist who has spent more than 30 years observing, questioning and writing about the world around her. And perhaps that's where the album finds its strength.
Rather than attempting to reinvent herself, Crow draws on the songwriting instincts that have served her throughout her career, allowing the songs and their stories to take centre stage.
Pick You Up is available now on all streaming platforms with vinyl, cassette and CD editions arriving on 20 November 2026.
